Dr. Jeffrey Rouse is an Assistant Professor at Tulane University in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the former elected Coroner of New Orleans. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Duke University, received his M.D. from Georgetown University, and completed training in adult psychiatry and forensic psychiatry at Tulane University. Board-certified in adult psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, and brain injury medicine, He is the Lead Psychiatrist at the New Orleans Justice Center (Formerly Orleans Parish Prison) and is a forensic psychiatrist for the Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System, Community Forensic Services Division. He conducts forensic psychiatric evaluations for criminal and civil purposes, served as the New Orleans Police Department’s psychiatrist for nearly a decade, and has consulted for various courts, law enforcement, and military organizations. His academic interests include forensic neuroimaging, the neural substrates of meditation, real time fMRI neurofeedback, and how cutting edge technology informed by meditation and pranayama traditions can assist persons achieve greater consciousness and less suffering.
