People have been gravitating to ASITW for inspiration ever since artists and environmental stewards Lucianne and Joe Carmichael discovered the place in 1969. This unique and rustic retreat center has been providing artist residencies, both official and ad-hoc, that seek to create work inspired by and contributing to appreciation of the natural environment.
With the Changing Landscapes Residencies, A Studio in the Woods hopes to intersect its location in a protected natural environment with its community resources to provide artists with powerful tools and the requisite time and space for critical thinking, the development of new strategies, and the creation of dynamic process as a catalyst of social change for the benefit of the environment.
The residency season is from September to April, with the Call to Artists announced each Spring. Join our mailing list for the most up to date information about all of our programming: Click here to receive ASITW’s eNewsletters
