House
The center of the main house was completed in 1977, since that time
the building, according to co-founder Joe Carmichael "has reached
out its arms" and continues to grow to include porches and spaces
that can be used by the community. Much of the materials in this and the
other structures are recycled, including glass doors and virgin long-leaf
pine beams and wallboards rescued from antebellum building demolition.
Aside from being the Carmichaels residence, this house also includes the
project office, artists quarters and kitchen.
