Devine made a solo performative distance walk of 38 miles from New Orleans to Hopedale as a “kinetic valentine” to the residents and landscape of the area, a route that highlighted the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet and brings attention to its de-authorization and closure. Anne Devine holds an M.F.A. in Social Practice from California College of the Arts and a B.F.A in photography, film and video from Rutgers. She also attended the graduate program in Environmental Studies at University of Montana.

“The first nurturings of creative spark began when I read the call for proposals and felt with the comprehensive support of A Studio in the Woods, I could explore the Southern Louisiana landscape physically and conceptually.” – Anne Devine
