Apply for ByWater Institute Scholarly Retreats
The ByWater Institute and A Studio in the Woods seek to enhance and support the scholarship, creativity and cross-disciplinary activity of Tulane faculty and trainees using the lens of any field or discipline to examine environmental challenges, issues, or questions. One-week residencies will be awarded during the Academic Year F2024-S2025 providing a retreat for faculty and trainees across disciplines to work on a discrete project or scholarly pursuit that can be new or complementary to ongoing work. Applications can be made independently, though collaborative and/or cross-discipline team applications are also eligible. This opportunity may be considered similar to an artist residency, writing fellowship or grant-in-aid. Past honorees have used the retreat to analyze data, write an article, prepare for a conference or begin a new project.
DATES Residencies may be requested for one week between August 2024 and June 2025. These residencies are not meant to interfere with existing service responsibilities or classes; however, applicants should plan on immersing in the retreat as much as possible with a minimum of four overnight stays.
