Lee Veeraraghavan is an ethnomusicologist, and her work has focused on the radical environmentalist and Indigenous sovereignty movements in Canada. She has written about music, sound, and adjacent concepts that support infrastructures of colonial governance and ideology, i.e., the mobilization of “orality” in pipeline hearing processes; and the magical properties accorded to sound in the works of composer R. Murray Schafer, whose compositions use sound to conjure nature in the service of constructing a culture.

While at Studio in the Woods, she will finish up the proposal for a monograph, tentatively called The Headlong Stream: Doing Sound Research in the Anthropocene.
